The Co-Change Lab at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) focuses on co-designing and implementing VTT’s internal sustainability programme since 2021. This work is an inclusive and participatory process that engages different internal stakeholders from researchers to top management. The framework of the sustainability programme builds on four pillars: Sustainable foundation; Thriving professionals; Empowered customers and Resilient Society. Each one of the pillars have collectively agreed action points and focuses. For example, in 2023 thriving professionals have Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) focus and a resilient society will focus on producing solutions to advance UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). An additional angle of the Co-Change Lab, and it links to a resilient society, is to explore AI ethics and values in dialogues with external stakeholders, namely users of autonomous traffic. These discussions aim to build a shared understanding of acceptance and desirability of increasing intelligence of autonomous systems.
